Ruphina also known as ‘Mama Emeka’ is a mother of four children, two of whom are mentally challenged. After being abandoned by her husband, she was left to care for her sons’ mental health and provide for the entire family on her own. Despite working as a cleaner in a school, she struggled to afford food and the necessary medication for her sons.
SUDAYI stepped in to provide financial assistance, allowing Mama Emeka to feed her family and purchase the medications her sons required. Additionally, she received entrepreneurship training and a grant, along with a grinding machine, to start her own business.
Today, she sells tomatoes, peppers, onions, and grinds grains like corn, millet, guinea corn, and groundnuts at the market. This business has enabled her to live a sustainable life, providing for her family’s needs and ensuring her sons receive the necessary medication.
